Today's the Day: Blog

An Ode to the Derriere!

Posted: Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. I loved it, no gardening, no golfing, no grocery shopping… nothing… notta… zilch. We did absolutely nothing productive. It was perfect. Over the next few weeks I am sure to get back in the groove of the chores. Instead we socialized and entertained. I laughed a lot, and played with the kids…and I even perfected my fort making abilities topping the awesome fort I made last week.

Here's what we did on today's segment: We got the butt cheeks moving! Lets go ladies! Bathing suit season is right around the corner, and sometimes that walk from one side of the pool to the other can be frightening… especially if you have left your towel or wrap at one end. Tanya Robertson of Personalized Fitness broke out the BOSU ball yet again and had us squeezing and tightening our buttocks!

So, you want to place your bottom knee at the centre of the BOSU ball. Then lift the other leg to the back and up. Lean your hands forward on the floor, or place your forearms on the floor so you are on a bit of an angle. Place a weight, in between the pocket of your free knee, keeping the leg bent at a 90 degree angle  and slowly raise the leg up. Make sure to keep your foot flexed as this will help keep the weight in place and focus the muscle movement on the buttocks region. Repeat the exercise about 10-15 times and then repeat on the other leg. You can repeat the sets about 3 times.
