Kurt was born in the very small town of Botwood, Newfoundland, the same town where his mother was born. It happened to be the closest hospital to the town where he actually lived! After spending some time as a teacher, his father eventually got into radio and television, so Kurt followed in his footsteps. After spending the first 6 years in various towns in Newfoundland, Kurt's family moved to Halifax, where he lived until he was 21. Kurt got his first part time job at a local radio at the age of 16, doing everything from maintenance work to on-air for the weekend programs and sports reporting.  Kurt's first full time job was at CJYQ radio in St. John's, Newfoundland at the age of 21.  He worked at OZ-FM and made the transition to television with NTV. He then moved to back to Halifax and became the weekend sports anchor/reporter.  That experience landed him the job as host of ASN's Breakfast Television. Kurt made his way to Calgary, Alberta in 1997 where he hosted Live @ 5, and three years later found himself in Ottawa, once again on the sports beat, and then on to become co-host of the morning show.

Education:
Bachelor of Arts/Dalhousie University, Halifax
1 year study at Memorial University, St. John's Newfoundland.

Extracurricular:
Kurt is involved in various charities including LiveWorkPlay, a local organization that supports people living with disabilities. He is an avid sports enthusiast - and enjoys playing golf, hockey, volleyball and softball.

What I Love About My Job:
"I may be biased, but I think I have the best job in Television! Despite the early hours, I get a chance to meet new people every day, and find out about them and their interest in our community.  The morning show format allows me to be a part of the lives of thousands of people in the Ottawa area. It's fun, interesting, and ever changing!"
