Finally Friday

Posted: Friday, February 6th, 2009

It's finally Friday, and finally it's starting to warm up just in time for Winterlude.  We had you covered today with Angie at Jacque Cartier Park and Lianne on the Rideau Canal and at Confederation Park to tell you about the milder conditions on the way!

We had the food angle covered at the studio.  We finally tried the Obama Tail Beavertail - yummy!  Grant and Pam Hooker shared with us their experience at the President's inauguration in Washington and serving up the political pastry.  With dessert taken care of it was time for the main course with stew from the Aulde Dubliner here in the market.  The restaurant won the People's Choice award at the Stew Cook-off last year.  The 18th annual cook-off starts today at noon in the Byward Market - $10 for all the stew you can eat, and the proceeds go to Operation Go Home.  Don't miss it!

Our transit system is getting back to business tomorrow and on Monday some of you will be back on board for the commute to work.  We're realizing it's not perfect yet and there appears to be a lot of fences to mend and relationships to smooth over.  I'm not a transit rider, if I was I'd be frustrated but I wouldn't take it out on the driver and I hope there aren't any incidents.  No matter the differences and the anger that has brewed over the months, in my opinion, it's not the right thing to do to take it out on the driver.  He/she is a person too and may have been just as stressed as you during the strike.  All I'm saying here is - take it easy out there!

Have a safe and happy weekend.  Take in the wonders of Winterlude and I'll see you bright and early Monday morning.

Cheers,
Karen
