Kindness Week

Posted: Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I'm hearing so many stories of hardship during this transit strike, and the more I hear the more frustrated I get and the more I hope this strike comes to an end - the sooner the better for everyone involved.  But I'm also hearing stories of our community pulling together and helping those out in need.  Kindness.  That leads me to tell you about Kindness Week that will be sweeping the city for a week in February.  This is the second year for the initiative that asks you for one week to choose to be kind.  Perhaps these kindness moves will show you how good it feels to be kind, and it's something you will choose to do forever.  This is a good habit to pick up.

One thing you can do this year during Kindness Week is help out those who need to driven to medical appointments.  The search is on for drivers to help.  There is a volunteer application process online at www.kindottawa.ca.  Or you can email drivers@kindottawa.ca, or call 613-236-0428 ext. 230.

This is just one of the activities for the week - so while you're on the website feel free to browse for more information.

Have a great weekend - make it a kind one!

Cheers,
Karen
