Getting up at 3:30 am has it's perks

Posted: Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Getting up at 3:30am and being on the road by 4:15am has it's perks.  Yes in these trying traffic times during the OC Transpo strike and not having to deal with the wacky traffic patterns is a blessing.  My patience isn't tried as much as commuters making the trek in, I don't have to deal with gridlock, and the parking lot is wide open when I arrive.  I'm not rubbing it in to you weary motorists out there, just feeling incredibly lucky I have weird hours - for once!  As this city heads into week 2 without public transit I'm surprised to see the majority of commuters taking it all in stride - at least the ones that I've seen and heard on the daily news reports.

The folks at Environment Canada are sure clever.  Their latest title for the snowstorms heading our way: Snow-mageddon.  The good news is this snow is timely for outdoor enthusiasts and the beginning of the holidays for kids - the bad news is for those heading out on the roads to travel to families and loved ones.  So be careful out there.  We'll keep an eye on those storms for you and keep you updated.

Have a great Thursday.

Cheers,
Karen
