Stop for Just a Moment and Think

Hey Gang;

Hope you enjoyed the show this morning…I also hope that you have the time today to stop for just a moment and think about our veterans, our military personnel, and the sacrifices they have made and continue to make for us, and for our country.

I’ve often urged people to make an effort to talk to a veteran, and it doesn’t have to be just today, Remembrance Day.  It can be any day, and it will be a conversation you’ll never forget.  I’ve had the opportunity to speak with dozens of war veterans over the course of my career about their experiences…in many cases, those conversations took me to places I had never been before.  Those conversations made me think about what we have, what we enjoy, and the freedom that we experience everyday.  The fact of the matter is that if it weren’t for our war veterans, Canada could very well be a different place than it is today.  There are millions of people in dozens of countries on the planet that simply don’t have the rights and freedoms that we have become accustomed to, but thanks to those who sacrificed their lives, and those who came back from military conflicts around the globe, we, my friends are free.

Taking part in a Remembrance Day ceremony gives us that time to reflect and understand…furthering that experience by taking the time to sit down with a veteran would make that experience even more meaningful, and you’d be surprised at just what it means to a veteran to be asked to share their experiences.  It would mean a great deal to the people at both ends of the conversation.

Enjoy this day and everyday…and the freedom that comes with it.
